EMHE Finale // Joplin Rebuilds

As I sit here struggling for words to put with this post, I realize that I probably shouldn’t have waited and tried to write this immediately after watching the episodes that accompanied the experience I had nearly three months ago. It was an amazing experience to witness the end results of the efforts of over 12,000 volunteers, but then to see how it all got there and to hear the stories of those whose homes I was in…to see the effect of their stories on the design team…to see the community of Joplin and those far away come together and rebuild in such a beautiful and selfless way…to know that I have been so blessed to know even a few of the people in that city and/or part of the project…still just blows my mind.

Hopefully by now you’ve also had the chance to watch the series finale – if not, watch it first! The images below are merely a supporting element of the story, and even having been there to see the homes firsthand, it is a much more complete experience to know even a little bit about who those people are and why those rooms were designed in the unique ways that they were, and how these homes are truly a reflection of the families residing within them and the genuine and overwhelming love of many, many people who realize that caring for and loving others is the greatest thing we can do.
